The Two-Tone Cabinetry Color That Elevated Our Living Room

In a hurry? Shop my shelves and the exact paint color of my two-tone cabinetry!

When we started designing our living room, I knew I wanted cabinetry that didn’t just blend into the background. I wanted depth, warmth, and that cozy-but-refined moment every time I walked into the room, and that’s exactly what this two-tone cabinetry gave us.

There’s just something about the light-and-dark contrast that feels fresh while still being timeless. The rich walnut interiors bring dimension, while the warm neutral cabinetry boxes soften the entire space. If you’re in the middle of planning your cabinetry or working with a designer, I’m sharing every single detail below (because you know I don’t gatekeep around here).

Our Exact Cabinetry Details

This is the formula we landed on after a lot of back and forth (and me being entirely too picky about undertones):

Cabinet Boxes & Drawers:
We chose Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige in satin finish. It’s warm, soft, and reads neutral in any light—exactly the balance I was hoping for.
You can find the exact paint color here: Accessible Beige – Sherwin-Williams.

Interior Shelves:
For the interior of the shelves, we went custom with a walnut stain that truly steals the show. The stain formula is called Burberry (WS4217-CB) and was mixed by Advanced Hardware Supply using ML Campbell brand products.

Craftsmanship:
We worked with Carriage House Mill for the custom cabinetry build, and they absolutely nailed every detail.

Why Two-Tone Cabinetry Work So Well

The reason this combination works is simple, it creates visual depth without overwhelming the space. The darker walnut interiors allow the decor to pop, while the lighter exterior keeps the space feeling open and inviting.

If you’re worried about your cabinetry feeling too flat or sterile, adding a two-tone effect like this is one of my favorite ways to bring in a little more character and warmth.

Quick FAQ About our two-tone cabinetry (Because I Get These A Lot!)

Is Accessible Beige really beige?
Yes, but it leans warm and soft, not yellow or peachy. It works beautifully with wood tones.

Can I use the same stain formula?
Absolutely. Just take the formula WS4217-CB to a professional finisher or stain supplier like Advanced Hardware Supply and have them mix it for you.

Will two-tone cabinetry work in smaller spaces?
Yes! The contrast actually adds dimension, which can make smaller rooms feel more layered and interesting.
