From the very beginning, I knew I wanted this room to feel like a hug from the past. A place that reminded me of my grandmother’s dining room, where the plates were always full, the clock ticked a little slower, and the conversations never felt rushed.
Creating this vintage dining room was about so much more than design. It was about capturing a feeling. A sense of rootedness. The reminder that a home should tell your story, not just follow a trend.
And I absolutely love how it turned out.
The Floral Wallpaper Steals the Show in My Vintage Dining Room
I can’t count how many times someone has walked in and immediately asked about the wallpaper. It’s the Dahlia Garden pattern from Boråstapeter, and it’s truly the soul of the space. The vintage floral pattern feels both classic and fresh, and it sets the tone for every other detail.

White Oak Flooring with a Soft Matte Finish
When you want a dining room that feels inviting but still polished, start with the floors. We chose character-grade white oak hardwood, stained with Rustic Beige by DuraSeal. The live sawn planks bring just the right amount of movement and warmth. And the water-based finish keeps it looking matte and natural (which I love because shiny floors just don’t feel as approachable to me).

Timeless Cabinets and Elegant Hardware

I knew the built-in cabinetry needed to feel elevated but not overly formal. We painted the cabinets River’s Edge by Sherwin Williams, which is a soft, creamy neutral that works beautifully with brass hardware.
The counters are Taj Mahal leathered quartzite, which I’ll tell you right now was a splurge that felt worth every penny. It’s durable, timeless, and the leathered finish has a texture that feels a little less precious when your kids inevitably set down a glass without a coaster.

Lighting and Decor with Old-World Charm
The chandelier is one of my favorite pieces, classic in shape but updated with delicate crystal details. I paired it with a few warm brass accents and a carved vintage-inspired mirror to tie everything together.
If you’re curious about any of the lighting, the dining table, chairs, or decor accents, you can find them all neatly linked for you below.

A Few Final Thoughts
This dining room is proof that you don’t have to choose between timeless and comfortable. You can have a space that feels elevated and lived-in all at once. A place to gather, to celebrate, to slow down, and remember that the best moments usually happen around the table.
