If I had a dollar for every time I was asked, “What is your wood floor?”—well, I could probably buy myself a second Oak Hardwood floor.
Seriously though, whenever I post a reel to Instagram, no matter the subject, my message folder blows up with that exact question. So today, as part of my no-gatekeeping policy, I’m giving you all the details on our white oak hardwood floors—from the exact stain color to finish, and everything in between.
Because let’s be honest: choosing hardwood floors when you’re building a home or refinishing existing floors is a Big Decision. I’ve been there. (That was us.)
Why We Chose White Oak Hardwood Floors

When our home was in the build phase and we were deep in interior design inspiration mode, we had a big decision to make. We looked into LVP (luxury vinyl plank)—and I totally get the appeal—but at the end of the day, nothing could replace the natural warmth, timeless character, and feel of real hardwood floors.
White oak hardwood gave us that classic, slightly rustic look, with just the right texture and charm. Plus, one of the major perks: we could sand and refinish them down the line if needed, instead of replacing them entirely. That flexibility sealed the deal.
Choosing a Hardwood Floor Stain: Why We Picked Rustic Beige

Here’s where it got intimidating. Choosing the right hardwood floor stain felt like picking the paint color for the Sistine Chapel. Okay, maybe not quite that intense—but still, the pressure was real.
We landed on Rustic Beige by DuraSeal (oil-based, one coat) because it brought out the natural warmth in the wood, but it also had a touch of gray. That gray undertone keeps things neutral and helps prevent the yellowing that naturally happens with white oak over time.
It’s been nearly two years now, and our floors have warmed just a bit—as we were told they would. But thanks to that gray tone in the stain, there are zero yellow undertones. We’re still obsessed.
Our Exact White Oak Hardwood Floor Specs
