72-Hour Emergency Go Bag: My Family’s Must-Have Kit

In a hurry? Get my 72-hour emergency go bag here!

I hope I never have to use this. But as a mom of six, having a 72-hour emergency go bag ready for my family gives me so much peace of mind.

With eight people in our family, being prepared for an emergency is something my husband and I take seriously. Not because we’re expecting something terrible to happen, and certainly not because we want to live in fear. Quite the opposite, actually!

I believe there’s a lot of peace that comes from being responsibly prepared. And sometimes, the smartest purchases are the ones you hope you’ll never need.

That’s exactly how I feel about these emergency survival backpacks.

A 72-Hour Emergency Go Bag That’s Already Packed for You

One of my favorite things about this emergency kit is that so much of the preparation has already been done for you!

Instead of spending hours researching emergency supplies, ordering everything individually, and figuring out how to organize it all, this grab-and-go backpack comes prepacked with essentials designed for two people.

And as a busy mom of six, I LOVE anything that makes an important job easier.

The backpack is compact enough to store in a convenient location, and the supplies are organized so you can access them when needed.

It’s one of those purchases that might not be particularly exciting, but having it ready feels incredibly worthwhile.

Emergency Preparedness for a Family of Eight

With six kids, I’ve learned that preparation makes everyday life run a whole lot more smoothly.

And while emergency preparedness is a little different from keeping extra snacks in the car or having a well-stocked medicine cabinet, the principle is the same.

I’d rather have something ready and never need it than desperately need it and wish I’d prepared.

Since each of these emergency go bags is designed for two people, our family of eight would need four kits to provide the same packaged supplies for everyone.

I also recommend considering the specific needs of each family member, including medications, important documents, clothing, additional water, and anything younger children might require.

For our family, it’s about having a practical plan and taking reasonable steps to be ready.

Not fear. Just wisdom.

Why I Love Having a Grab-and-Go Emergency Kit

One thing that makes this emergency backpack especially appealing is its convenience.

If we ever needed to leave home quickly, I wouldn’t want to be running around the house gathering basic emergency supplies.

Having a designated emergency bag means those essentials are already together.

I also love that these kits can be stored in an accessible location, making them easy to grab if necessary.

Just remember to check expiration dates, inspect the supplies periodically, and make sure everyone in your household knows where the bags are stored.

A Little Preparation Can Bring a Lot of Peace

I truly hope these emergency backpacks sit untouched for years.

But knowing we’ve taken another step toward being prepared for the unexpected makes me feel better as a mom.

If you’ve been meaning to put together a family emergency kit but haven’t known where to start, a prepacked 72-hour emergency go bag is a convenient option worth considering.

It’s one less thing to put off, and one more way to take care of the people you love.

xoxo, andrea
