Give the pillow a full day to fluff after opening. It needs a little time to breathe and expand.

Then, test it before deciding whether to add or remove foam. I would sleep on it first, then adjust from there. Sometimes a pillow feels different once you actually use it for a full night.

Also, keep the extra foam. You may want to change the fill later depending on your sleep style or preference.
